FAQ

  • Q: How many players are involved?
  • A: Minimum of 2. Game Master(the Cell Handler) and 1 Operator. The number of operators depends on how many players the Cell Handler can/wants to control.
  • Q: Can this be played in a weekend?
  • A: Yes, events can be planned for a weekend, but this game is played over weeks and months to progress the story.
  • Q: Can this be played by kids?
  • A: Yes, a cool parent can be the Cell Handler and the Operators are the children or neighborhood friends. The missions can be tailored to the age level. ie…”Find the secret message in the middle of the cul-de-sac. Report back to me.” – “Make a spy periscope using the material found in the hidden cache”. – “Spy on Mom in the kitchen…what is she making for dinner?” A clever parent can create hours of family enjoyable missions harnessing science experiments, arts and crafts, and excitement.
  • Q: Who runs the LARP?
  • A: You do! You are the Game Master! You create the events for your agents. This is not a “one and done” game. The “events” can happen based on an agent’s schedule (weekdays) or can be a planned event run by the GM on a weekend.
  • Q: Where is this LARP located?
  • A: Where ever the GM lives. This is a game played in the town/campus where you live.
  • Q: How do I communicate with my operators? Discord?
  • A: The goal for a Cell Handler would be to create a Covert Communication method using some form of tradecraft to mimic real life. Probably not Discord. Dead drops, live drops, or encrypted digital messages would be more appropriate and realistic.
  • Q: Will I need to create an “enemy” cell to go against my operators?
  • A: You could, but that would take a LOT of effort. Alternately, the Cell Handler also plays the role of the Adversary through the use of NPAs (non-player agents). These NPAs take on the role of members of the adversarial organization you have created.
